Tyler Otto is Vice President of Safety and Moderation at Reddit, where he leads content moderation across one of the internet’s largest community platforms. His work spans enforcement of Reddit’s sitewide policies and the systems, tools, and AI-enabled approaches that help communities govern themselves.
He is focused on how AI can improve moderation in practice… strengthening safety, reducing abuse, and helping preserve authentic human participation in online communities increasingly shaped by automation. His work sits at the center of a defining platform challenge of the AI era: how to scale enforcement, trust, and judgment without flattening the communities that make the internet worth using.
Originally trained in data science, Tyler has spent much of the past decade helping build Reddit’s modern approach to safety, enforcement, and community self-governance at scale. He brings a practical operator’s perspective, shaped by building the systems, strategy, and organizational capabilities needed to make moderation work across both centralized enforcement and community self-governance.
