Dex Hunter-Torricke is Founder and President of the Center for Tomorrow, a global nonprofit focused on enabling flourishing societies in the age of AI. Hunter-Torricke also serves as a Non-Executive Board Member of HM Treasury.
Hunter-Torricke spent nearly two decades at the heart of the institutions shaping the modern world. After beginning his career as an advisor to the office of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Dex became Google’s first executive speechwriter, writing for leaders including Eric Schmidt and Larry Page, before becoming Facebook’s first head of executive communications where he worked closely with Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg. Dex later worked for Elon Musk as head of communications at SpaceX, and most recently as head of communications at Google DeepMind.
In late 2025, Dex announced that he was leaving Big Tech ahead of launching the Center for Tomorrow in February 2026. A widely sought public commentator, Hunter-Torricke has been profiled by TIME, Politico, the Wall Street Journal and numerous other media organizations.
The son of a refugee and the first in his family to earn a university degree, Hunter-Torricke approaches the question of AI with a conviction that genuine progress must reach everyone. He resists both techno-utopianism and doomerism, arguing that the dominant conversation about AI has become too narrow, too captured by industry, and too focused on technical fixes for what are fundamentally societal questions. His work calls for a broader, more democratic dialogue about the future humanity wants to build.
